Technology of Multiscale Strength Analysis

Analysis technology to predict macroscopic strength characteristics considering microscopic heterogeneity of metal

From a microscopic view point, metals used for structural materials are generally composed of several phases. On the other hand, the macroscopic strength characteristics of these materials are largely effected by the morphology of the internal microstructure, such as types of constituting phases and their geometry or size. Analysis technology to evaluate the above relationship quantitatively has been developed.

Features

Macro/micro deformation can be analyzed at the same time

Metals have non-uniform strength due to their structural morphology. In contrast, a conventional structural analysis generally treats a metal’s strength as uniform. With this technology, it is possible to analyze the deformation behavior and stress/strain distribution while considering macroscopic and microscopic scale interactions.

Damage behavior inside the material can be evaluated

Using this technology, it is also possible to evaluate the occurrence and propagation behavior of damage inside the material when the part is deformed.
